
Richard de Waardt
Richard de Waardt studied at the Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn" in Mechelen, where he graduated with great distinction in 2010.
He is responsible for workshops for primary schools at the Royal Carillon School, where he has introduced countless children to the school and the carillon in an engaging and musical way.
A multiple prizewinner in international carillon competitions, Richard regularly performs carillon concerts in the Netherlands and abroad. Since 2012, he has been the city carillonneur of Rotterdam, where he plays three carillons and developed the Groot Rotterdams Songbook, a project centered around songs from all over the world. Since 2019, he has also served as municipal carillonneur of Tholen & Sint-Maartensdijk (Zeeland).
As an accordionist, Richard performs with various groups, including Kabál and Manebrandt. He is the founder of Stichting Torenmuziek Eiland Tholen, secretary of the Royal Dutch Carillon Association (KNKV), and artistic advisor for Stichting Stadsmuziek Rotterdam. Additionally, he arranges music for automatic carillons worldwide for the bell foundry Royal Eijsbouts
