Thursday July 11 – qualifying round

Qualifying round on the concert carillon of St. Rumbold's Tower.
Listening place with visualization: Cultuurplein, 2800 Mechelen. Free admission.

The order of the candidates will be announced at the listening place which will be determined by drawing lots on July 9.

• 10am - 4pm: candidates 9-15

  • 10am: candidate 9

  • 10.40 am: candidate 10

  • 11.20am: candidate 11

  • 12 noon: break

  • 1.30 pm: candidate 12

  • 2:10 p.m.: candidate 13

  • 2.50 pm: candidate 14

  • 3.30 pm: candidate 15

• 4 p.m.: deliberation by the jury
• 5:30 PM: announcement of the finalists and winner of the improvisation prize

Each candidate plays three works:

• The compulsory work: Rhapsody in Bronze - Joey Brink
• A prelude by Matthias Vanden Gheyn
• A work of the candidate's own choice from the repertoire submitted by the candidate
• Improvisation (optional)

In addition to the competition, the candidates can also participate in the improvisation competition. At the foot of the St Rumbold's Tower they receive a theme on which they have to improvise.

The announcement of the finalists and the winner of the improvisation prize will be announced at 5:30pm in the Mechelen Cultural Center (Minderbroedersgang 5). Afterwards, the Royal Carillon School 'Jef Denyn' vzw offers a reception in the KUUB, Minderbroedersgang 3A (bar at the Cultuurplein).
